CELEBRATE TRAILS FUN FACTS:
- “Celebrate Trails” was started in 2013 by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy and numerous celebrations are held across the nation on the 4th Saturday of each April. This year, the date of April 22 coincides with Earth Day! RTC is a non-profit organization that was established in 1986 recognizing that decommissioned railway tracks could be converted to pedestrian and bike walkways and trails. This national celebration encourages people across the country to get outside and enjoy the nation’s exceptional trails and trail system.
- Cities across the nation are hosting their own Celebrate Trails Day events and the Mequon Community Foundation has partnered with the Rails to Trails Conservancy to bring it to Mequon!
- The Inter-Urban Trail is used by commuters, dog walkers, bicyclists, walkers and runners alike. We can travel on it South to downtown Milwaukee and North to Cedarburg and beyond. Spurs off this trail are encouraged to continue connecting people to the trails.
