The Mequon-Thiensville Community Foundation (MTCF) announced that Steven (Steve) Peterman of Mequon has been named the 2025 Pillar of the Community award recipient.
Entering its 13th year, this annual award recognizes a Mequon-Thiensville community member who has had a significant impact on making the city and village great places to live, work, and play.
Peterman, who grew up in Glendale, moved to Mequon with his wife Darcy 54 years ago and has been active in the community ever since. In fact, while Steve was one of the original charter members of the Mequon-Thiensville Sunrise Rotary Club in 1990, he is the only charter member who continues to this day, embodying the Club’s motto: service above self. In 2004, Steve was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by his Rotary Club, and received the Citizen of the Year award from the Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce in 2005. He has sat on numerous boards and committees, and as a licensed architect, designed many buildings that grace our community. Steve has also used his professional talents to offer pro bono services to organizations both within the Mequon-Thiensville communities and beyond. More details of his contributions to come!
According to MTCF Board President Lori Lorenz, “Steve epitomizes what it means to be a Pillar of the Community. From his humility to his leadership and commitment to service in our community dating back over 50 years, Steve is a true unsung hero of both Mequon and Thiensville. We look forward to honoring him at our luncheon on June 10th at the River Club.”
The Pillars of the Community luncheon is MTCF’s signature annual fundraising event where attendees come together to express gratitude, celebrate community spirit and help raise funds for the continued betterment of our community.
